My mother alway's sang You are my Sunshine to me when I was little, so it's always had a special place in my heart.

A poem

Posted on Dec 1st, 2008 by Library Drone : Lover of Wisdom Library Drone
This a poem I wrote a few years ago for a Poetry Slam supporting the Shelter for Battered Women in my area and thus is on that subject.

Mother of Sorrow

     I gaze upon her
The mother of sorrow
In billowing robes, black as a moonless midnight
A hood conceals her face
 hides it from sight
Shadows surround her
  and sadness fills the air
        Mother of Sorrow

   A child
No more than seven
  That looks at me
with a kind of all consuming
almost animalistic terror
So thin
I can see every bone in it's body
Is clutching her robes with oh so fragile hands
seeking comfort
never given
never expected
always wished for
   Mother of Sorrow

     A boy
No older than fourteen
is standing by her side
His gaze is a void
Empty
Numb
Briuses cover him
   shaped ike hands
He grew up to fast
    and lost trust in humanity
               Mother of Sorrow

     A woman
of only twenty one years
   Tries to hide behind her
with a tearstained face as testimony to her pain
  transfixed by something
that no one else can see
unmoving
afraid
gave up on life so soon
    Mother of Sorrow

Mother! Mother! they cry
    Save us from the day!
Shroud us in the darkness
ands take his pain away
Help us
   Mother of Sorrow

    Now that dark matron
smiles gently
And extends her hand to me
Beckoning
Calling
soothing my tattered heart
comforting our broken souls
She is our Masiah
  Our savior
      Our Mother of Sorrow

Relitivity by M.C. Escher.  He's my favorite artist and I have a print of that particular work of his hung on my wall and i can spend hours looking at it if I have the time. I can't help but marvel at how that mans mind must have worked to come up with something like that.

What was the last thing you wondered about?

Posted on Nov 21st, 2008 by Library Drone : Lover of Wisdom Library Drone
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for November 21, 2008:

Why do people argue about God
Why do people that are part of religons promoting peace go to war over them
Why do we lie when we don't have to
Why is it so unacceptable to fail in our society
Why do we charge people to learn
Why do people so obseesed with tradition that we can't look to the future
